Recording Best Practices
Follow these guidelines to produce crisp, engaging, and professional interactive guides that look great on any screen.
1. Use 100% Browser Zoom
Ensure your browser zoom level is set to standard 100% (Ctrl + 0 or ⌘ + 0). This ensures click coordinates map precisely to element boundaries without scaling offsets.
2. Click Deliberately
Pause momentarily before each click and allow modals, dropdowns, or page transitions to finish rendering before taking the next action. This gives the recorder time to capture the exact trigger element and the resulting visual change.
3. Avoid Displaying Sensitive Data
Use demo accounts or dummy test data whenever possible. If your recording captures private emails or API keys, you can apply blur masks in the FlowWasp Studio editor before exporting or publishing.
4. Keep Walkthroughs Focused
The most engaging interactive stories have between 5 and 15 steps focused on a single outcome (e.g. “Inviting a team member” or “Connecting Stripe payments”). Split larger processes into multiple modular stories.
